The Year 2020…
All we can say is that 2020 was not your typical year. For some it was no different, for some it was a lot of down time, for others it was the same load, but in an extremely different way. For your Emmaus Board, it was one of opportunity.
They say that if you are standing still, you are falling behind. The El Shaddai Emmaus board of directors took this “pause” to do some very important organizational work. We hope this planning will make our Chrysalis and Emmaus communities stronger and closer so we can do the Lord’s work in accordance to His will. Through multiple committee meetings, Emmaus and Chrysalis representatives have drafted, under the guidance of the Upper Room, a different leadership structure that will bring us more consistent Walks/Flights by increasing our mentorship opportunities and community participation.
Prior to the pandemic, you had heard us talking about restructuring our communities with a Governance Board and Sub-Committee’s approach. The Governance Board approach will increase input from Chrysalis and Emmaus focusing on policymaking that will keep us consistent in how we execute our weekends while freeing our Sub-Committees to concentrate on the “nuts-and-bolts” of actually executing Walks/Flights.
We pledge to communicate regularly in an attempt to explain the new structure and the opportunities for increased leadership roles and participation. Our goal is to have our Community prepared for the coming transition at our upcoming election during the November gathering.
